A Visit With Scripture
– God’s Plan for Humanity –

7.6 Festival of Booths

The first three days of creation, presented in Genesis 1 from the perspective of God Almighty’s creativity, brought order to chaos and the next three days populated creation with light and life.  In Chapter 1 (p. 1-19), we also considered the seven days of creation from the perspective of human existence, which created the paring of day 2 with day 5, and day 3 with day 6, and day 4 with day 7.  Now that we have completed human progression through the spiritual day/ages, the events of each day/age can be filled in the pairing of days of human existence.

Table 7.4

In spiritual day/age 2, God Almighty created a man and a woman after which the earth was destroyed by water.  In spiritual day/age 5, God Almighty created a spiritual man and a spiritual woman after which the earth will be destroyed by fire.  After these destructive events, the earth was repopulated in spiritual day/age 3 and will be in day/age 6.  Spiritual day/age 4 was dominated by Jesus’ ministry, crucifixion, and resurrection, and day/age 7 will be dominated by His rule, reign, and judgment.

We have used events in the history of the patriarchs and the nation of Israelites/Jews, from Abram to Jesus, as a pattern for the spiritual journey of humanity, from the garden to the marriage of the Lamb in heaven.  What joy there will be throughout heaven when all of humanity is gathered at God Almighty’s throne!  We see such joy in the Festival of Booths, the final festival of the annual feasts of the Mosaic Law and a pattern of all humanity in heaven.

Again the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, “Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, ‘On the fifteenth of this seventh month is the Feast of Booths for seven days to the LORD.  On the first day is a holy convocation; you shall do no laborious work of any kindFor seven days you shall present an offering by fire to the LORDOn the eighth day you shall have a holy convocation and present an offering by fire to the LORD; it is an assembly.  You shall do no laborious work.  …  On exactly the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when you have gathered in the crops of the land, you shall celebrate the feast of the LORD for seven days, with a rest on the first day and a rest on the eighth day.  Now on the first day you shall take for yourselves the foliage of beautiful trees, palm branches and boughs of leafy trees and willows of the brook; and you shall rejoice before the LORD your God for seven daysYou shall thus celebrate it as a feast to the LORD for seven days in the year.  It shall be a perpetual statute throughout your generations; you shall celebrate it in the seventh month.  You shall live in booths for seven days; all the native-born of Israel shall live in booths, so that your generations may know that I had the sons of Israel live in booths when I brought them out from the land of Egypt.  I am the LORD your God.’ ” Leviticus 23:33-36,39-43  NASB

First, notice that there is no sacrifice or offering specifically for sin, because all humanity will have been made righteous and admitted to heaven.  Second, all of redeemed humanity will gather in a holy convocation, and will reside in “booths” in God Almighty’s house in heaven.

In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you.”  John 14:2  NASB

The many-membered Christ with Jesus as head and the many-membered bride of Christ will be assembled, and the uniting of these spiritual entities will take place.  The summing up of all things in Christ is completed when the two become one.

And one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues, came and spoke with me, saying, “Come here, I shall show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.”  Revelation 21:9  NASB

This was foretold in the creation story.

For this cause a man shall leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave to his wife; and they shall become one flesh Genesis 2:24 NASB

Spiritually, all humanity will come together in Christ at the marriage of the many-membered Christ and His many-membered bride, consisting of all three components of Woman (p. 5-75).

“Let us rejoice and be glad and give the glory to Him, for the marriage of the Lamb has come and His bride has made herself ready.”  Revelation 19:7  NASB

Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her; that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, that He might present to Himself the church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she should be holy and blameless Ephesians 5:25-27  NASB

Seven days of joyous celebration of Booths during the seventh festival in the seventh month clearly indicates the completed restoration of and a happy conclusion for all humanity.   This will be a time to rejoice before the LORD your God (Lev 23:40).

And there shall no longer be any curse; and the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His bond-servants shall serve Him; and they shall see His face, and His name shall be on their foreheads.  And there shall no longer be any night; and they shall not have need of the light of a lamp nor the light of the sun, because the Lord God shall illumine them; and they shall reign forever and ever.  Revelation 22:3-5  NASB
