A Visit With Scripture
– God’s Plan for Humanity –

7.2 Spiritual Day/Age 6

The day of the Lord at the end of spiritual day/age 5 will bring desolation to the earth (Isa 13:9, Zeph 1:15, p. 6-80).  Just as there was a replanting of humanity in spiritual day/age 3 after the destruction of humanity by water, there also will be a replanting of humanity in spiritual day/age 6 after the destruction of humanity by fire.  In the pattern of the days of creation of Genesis 1, day six suggests this repopulating of the earth.

And God created man in His own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female He created them.  Genesis 1:24  NASB

This third populating the earth with humanity suggests divine completion.

However, we also find in Genesis 1 that God Almighty created cattle and beasts.

Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth living creatures after their kind: cattle and creeping things and beasts of the earth after their kind”; and it was so.  …  Genesis 1:24  NASB

Satan has been associated with cattle and beasts from the beginning (Gen 3:2, 14), so the spiritual cattle and beasts that will come forth in spiritual day/age 6 will be satanic.  The sorcerers and magicians in Egypt performing in the presence of Pharaoh are a type for satanic manifestations.

Then Pharaoh also called for the wise men and the sorcerers, and they also, the magicians of Egypt, did the same with their secret artsFor each one threw down his staff and they turned into serpents.  But Aaron’s staff swallowed up their staffs.  Exodus 7:11-12  NASB

But the magicians of Egypt did the same with their secret arts; and Pharaoh’s heart was hardened, and he did not listen to them, as the LORD had said.  Exodus 7:22  NASB

So Aaron stretched out his hand over the waters of Egypt, and the frogs came up and covered the land of Egypt.  And the magicians did the same with their secret arts, making frogs come up on the land of Egypt Exodus 8:6-7  NASB

Spiritual children of Satan will form the antichrist (those who deny the Gospel), beasts (rulers, kingdoms, or governments) and false prophets (counterfeit spiritual leadership), which were listed  in the chart of the two spiritual kingdoms (p. 2-5)

And he stood on the sand of the seashore.  And I saw a beast coming up out of the sea, having ten horns and seven heads, and on his horns were ten diadems, and on his heads were blasphemous names.  …  And I saw another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spoke as of a dragon.  …  And he performs great signs, so that he even makes fire come down out of heaven to the earth in the presence of men.  Revelation 13:1,11,13  NABS

Satan in the beginning was represented as a serpent but in Revelation is represented as a dragon (Rev 12:9).

And I saw coming out of the mouth of the dragon and out of the mouth of the beast and out of the mouth of the false prophet, three unclean spirits like frogs Revelation 16:13  NASB

Satan/dragon will grant dominion and power to his creatures of the kingdom of darkness.

…  And the dragon gave him [beast of Rev 13:1] his power and his throne and great authority.  …  And he [beast of Rev 13:11] exercises all the authority of the first beast in his presence.  And he makes the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the first beast, whose fatal wound was healed.  Revelation 13:2,12  NASB

The particular manifestation of these beasts and false prophets remains in the realm of speculation, but they may claim to be a “higher order of life” from space.

We continue with the Israelites as a pattern for the spiritual progression of humanity during spiritual day/age 6.  After the Israelite rebellion against God Almighty’s commandment to occupy the Promised Land, they spent an additional 38 years in the wilderness.  Scripture offers few details of this time, but these few provide a pattern for God Almighty’s people in day/age 6.

Table 7.1

There are new generations.  During the time in the wilderness, the adult generation of the Israelites who rebelled against God Almighty’s commandment to enter the Promised Land died and was replaced by the next generation.

“So the LORD’S anger burned against Israel, and He made them wander in the wilderness forty years, until the entire generation of those who had done evil in the sight of the LORD was destroyed.”  Numbers 32:13  NASB

As God Almighty provided safety for Noah and his family during the flood, for Lot and his daughters during the destruction of Sodom (Gen 19:17), and for the two, Israelite spies with a positive report during the time in the wilderness, so also God Almighty will provide safety for a few righteous who will survive the great and terrible day of the Lord at the end of spiritual day/age 5 and who will repopulate the earth in spiritual day/age 6.

“And unless the Lord had shortened those days, no life would have been saved; but for the sake of the elect whom He chose, He shortened the days.”  Mark 13:20  NASB

Gather yourselves together, yes, gather,  /  O nation without shame,  /  Before the decree takes effect–  /  The day passes like the chaff–  /  Before the burning anger of the Lord comes upon you,  /  Before the day of the LORD’s anger comes upon you,  /  Seek the LORD,   /  All you humble of the earth  /  Who have carried out His ordinances;  /  Seek righteousness, seek humility,  /  Perhaps you will be hidden  /  In the day of the LORD’s anger.  Zephaniah 2:1-3  NASB

God Almighty’s commandments are reaffirmed.  God Almighty directed the Israelites to observe His commandments.

Now while the sons of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man gathering wood on the sabbath day.  …  Then the LORD said to Moses, “The man shall surely be put to death; all the congregation shall stone him with stones outside the camp.”  Numbers 15:32,35  NASB

Here then we have an indication that God Almighty’s standards for holiness will be reaffirmed for humanity

“For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass away from the Law, until all is accomplished.”    Matthew 5:18  NASB

There is rebellion.  Korah a Levite led a rebellion against Moses and Aaron.

Now Korah  … two hundred and fifty leaders  …  assembled together against Moses and Aaron and said to them, “You have gone far enough, for all the congregation are holy, every one of them, and the LORD is in their midst; so why do you exalt yourself above the assembly of the LORD?”  …  Then Moses said to Korah, “Hear now, you sons of Levi, is it not enough for you that the God of Israel has separated you from the rest of the congregation of Israel, to bring you near to Himself, to do the service of the tabernacle of the LORD, and to stand before the congregation to minister to them;  …  And are you seeking for the priesthood also?”  Numbers  16:1,2,3,8-10  NASB

Here then we have an indication that there will be some who will declare their righteousness and will seek to be establish a false priesthood among God Almighty’s people during spiritual day/age 6.

For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ.  And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.  2Corinthians 11:13-14  NASB

God Almighty delivers judgment.  Korah and the rebels were destroyed.

Then it came about as he [Moses] finished speaking all these words, that the ground that was under them split open; and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up, and their households, and all the men who belonged to Korah, with their possessions.  …  Fire also came forth from the LORD and consumed the two hundred and fifty men who were [part of the rebellion].  Numbers 16:31-33,35  NASB

Here then is an indication that imposters among God Almighty’s people will be destroyed.

Therefore it is not surprising if his [Satan’s] servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their deeds 2Corinthians 11:15  NASB

God Almighty’s priesthood is identified.  God Almighty chose Aaron and Levites as priests.

Now it came about on the next day that Moses went into the tent of testimony; and behold, the rod of Aaron for the house of Levi had sprouted and put forth buds and produced blossoms, and is bore ripe almonds Numbers 17:8  NASB

Here then is an indication that true priests of God Almighty will appear and ministry to the faithful.

God Almighty provides.  Water was provided at Meribah for the Israelites.

Then Moses lifted up his hand and struck the rock twice with his rod; and water came forth abundantly, and the congregation and their beasts drank.  Number 20:11  NASB

Here then is an indication that God Almighty will provide sustenance for His faithful through the Holy Spirit.

Leaders are lost.  Miriam and Aaron died.

Then the sons of Israel, the whole congregation, came to the wilderness of Zin in the first month; and the people stayed at Kadesh.  Now Miriam died there and was buried there.  …  And after Moses had stripped Aaron of his garments and put them on Eleazar, Aaron died there on the mountain top.  Then Moses and Eleazar came down from the mountain.  Numbers 20:1,28

Here then we have the indication of the loss of the prophets and priests of God Almighty’s people.

Deadly beasts appear.  Fiery serpents tormented and killed Israelites after they complained of their circumstances.

And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people and they bit the people, so that many people of Israel died Numbers 21:6  NASB

Here then is an indication that satanic forces (beasts) will oppose and persecute God Almighty’s faithful when they lose faith and complain of their circumstance.

And he stood on the sand of the seashore.  And I saw a beast coming up out of the sea, having ten horns and seven heads, and on his horns were ten diadems, and on his heads were blasphemous names.  …  And it was given to him [beast of Rev 13:1] to make war with the saints and to overcome them; and authority over every tribe and people and tongue and nation was given to him.  Revelation 13:1,7  NABS

There is healing.  There was healing for those bitten by the serpents.

And Moses made a bronze serpent and set it on the standard; and it came about, that if a serpent bit any man, when he looked to the bronze serpent, he lived.  Numbers 21:9  NASB

Israelites’ being bitten by serpents is consistent with the portrayal of the first couple in the garden of Eden being bitten by the serpent and thereby being injected with poison that brings death (p. 2-34).  Jesus cited this event as prophetic of Him being hoisted upon the cross as the means of saving humanity.

“And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up; that whoever believes may in Him have eternal life.”  John 3:14-15  NASB

Humanity, when looking to Jesus on the cross, receives healing of the soul and restoration to God Almighty.  Here then we have another assurance of the full restoration of humanity to God Almighty through the healing of humanity.

God Almighty’s armies are victorious.  The Israelites defeated the Amorites and the people of Bashan during their journey to the Promised Land.

But the LORD said to Moses, “Do not fear him (Og king of Bashan), for I have given him into your hand, and all his people and his land; and you shall do to him as you did to Sihon, king of the Amorites, who lived at Heshbon.”  Numbers 21:34  NASB

Here then is an indication that at some time God Almighty’s people will be victorious over spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places (Eph 6:12).

False prophets appear.  Balaam, a prophet for hire, is summoned to curse the Israelites.

So he [Balak, king of Moab] sent messengers to Balaam  …  saying, …  “Now, therefore, please come, curse this people [Israelites] for me since they are too mighty for me; perhaps I may be able to defeat then and drive them out of the land.  For I know that he whom you bless is blessed, and he whom you curse is cursed.  Numbers 22:5-6  NASB

Here then is an indication that false prophets will arise.

“For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect.”  Matthew 24:24  NASB

Beasts are oppositional.  Balaam’s beast of burden opposed him.

And the LORD opened the mouth of the donkey, and she said to Balaam, “What have I done to you, that you struck me these three times?  Numbers 22:28  NASB

Here then we have the indication that wonder-working, satanic beasts will oppose God Almighty’s people.

And I saw another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spoke as of a dragon.  …  And he performs great signs, so that he even makes fire come down out of heaven to the earth in the presence of men.  And he deceives those who dwell on the earth because of the signs which it was given him to perform in the presence of the beast, telling those who dwell on the earth to make an image of the beast who had the wound of the sword and has come to life.  And there was given to him to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast might even speak and cause as many as do not worship the image of the beast to be killed Revelation 13:11,13-15  NASB

God Almighty’s people are blessed.  Balaam blessed Israel.

Then Balak said to Balaam, “What have you done to me?  I took you to curse my enemies, but behold, you have actually blessed them!”  Numbers 23:11  NASB

In the presence of the satanic beasts, God Almighty will bless his people.

God Almighty’s people go astray.  Israelites play the harlot.

While Israel remained at Shittim, the people began to play the harlot with the daughters of Moab.  Numbers 25:1  NASB

As we have seen, unfaithfulness of the Israelites of the Old Testament is consistently characterized as harlotry (Jer 3:6-8).  Here then we have an indications that God Almighty’s people will become unfaithful and worship at the altar of false gods.

God Almighty’s anger purges.  God Almighty purges the Israelites by a plague.

So Moses said to the judges of Israel, “Each of you slay his men who have joined themselves to Baal of Peor.”  Then behold, one of the sons of Israel came and brought to his relatives a Midianite woman,  …  and he (Phinehas) went after the man of Israel into the tent, and pierced both of them through, the man of Israel and the woman, through the bodySo the plague on the sons of Israel was checked.  Numbers 25:5-6,8  NASB

Because the sin of the Israelites was impropriety with the women of Midian, it may be that the plague was a sexually transmitted disease.  Regardless, here then we have an indication that God Almighty’s people will be purged of idolatry.

There is the end of the era.  Moses led the Israelites to the Jordan River opposite Jericho, and there he died.

So Moses the servant of the LORD died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the LORD.  Deuteronomy 34:5  NASB

Here then is an indication of the end times of spiritual day/age 6.

There is a change of leadership.  Joshua, one of the two spies who gave a positive report about conquering the Promised Land, was anointed by Moses and became the leader of the Israelites.

Now Joshua the son of Nun was filled with the spirit of wisdom, for Moses had laid his hands on him; and the sons of Israel listened to him and did as the LORD had commanded Moses.  Deuteronomy 34:9  NASB

Here then is an indication that the second coming of Jesus will provide leadership for God Almighty’s people at the end of spiritual day/age 6.

so Christ also, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, shall appear a second time, not to bear sin, to those who eagerly await him, for salvation.  Hebrews 9:28  NASB

Thus, events of the Israelites during the years in the wilderness suggest events during spiritual day/age 6.

The Israelites’ wilderness journey ended when they crossed the Jordan River into the Promised Land.  The leadership of the Israelites gave instructions for entering the Promised Land

And it came about at the end of three days that the officers went through the midst of the camp; and they commanded the people, saying, “When you see the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God with the Levitical priests carrying it, then you shall set out from your place and go after itHowever, there shall be between you and it a distance of about 2,000 cubits by measure.  Do not come near it, that you may know the way by which you shall go, for you have not passed this way before.”  Joshua 3:2-4  NASB

This Scripture is cited by some who teach that the church will enter the spiritual Promised Land of Tabernacles at the end of spiritual day/age 5.  Their interpretation is that the ark represents Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection and that the Israelites following at a distance of 2,000 cubits is an indication of the church entering the spiritual Promised Land 2,000 years after Jesus (20?? AD).

Certainly, the ark represents the presence of God Almighty/Holy Spirit, but it rests upon the shoulders of priests with their feet on the ground.  Therefore, our interpretation is that priests carrying the ark represent the Two Witnesses company, who will minister as priests (p. 6-60) at the end of spiritual day/age 5, with the anointing and presence of the Spirit of God Almighty resting upon them.  Thus, the distance of 2,000 cubits behind the priests/Two Witnesses of spiritual day/age 5 suggests 2,000 years for spiritual day/age 6, at the end of which many will enter the spiritual Promised Land.

In the pattern of the three, annual feasts mandated for the Israelites by the Mosaic Law, Jesus, as Head of the church, fulfilled the mandates of the Feast of Unleavened Bread by His death and resurrection (p. 4-60).  The church will fulfill the mandates of the Feast of Pentecost/Weeks with The 144,000 and the Two Witnesses companies at the end of spiritual day/age 5 (p. 6-77).  God Almighty’s elect will fulfill the mandates of the Feast of Tabernacles/Booths–with the three festivals of Trumpets, Day of Atonement, and Booths–in spiritual day/age 7.

The time between the two, spring, grain-harvest feasts and the fall, fruit-harvest feast (Tabernacles/Booths) represents spiritual day/age 6.  The transition from spiritual day/age 6 to day/age 7 begins with the Festival of Trumpets.  The blowing of the trumpets of the Festival of Trumpets announces the transition.

“Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, ‘In the seventh month on the first of the month, you shall have a rest, a reminder by blowing of trumpets, a holy convocationYou shall not do any laborious work, but you shall present an offering by fire to the LORD.’ ”  Leviticus 23:24-25  NASB

The gathering of the holy convocation is the culmination of spiritual day/age 6, and precedes a rest of 1,000 years (the millennium) during spiritual day/age 7.

Jesus spoke of this holy convocation summoned by a trumpet as His return to the earth, i.e., His second coming.

“and then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the SON OF MAN COMING ON THE CLOUDS OF THE SKY with power and great glory.  And He will send forth His angels WITH A GEAT TRUMPET and THEY WILL GATHER TOGETHER His elect FROM THE FOUR WINDS, FROM ONE END OF THE SKY TO THE OTHER.”  Matthew 24:30-31  NASB

We have a description of this resurrection event in the visions of Revelation.

BEHOLD, HE IS COMING WITH THE CLOUDS, and EVERY EYE WILL SEE HIM, EVEN THOSE WHO PIERCED HIM; AND ALL THE TRIBES OF THE EARTH WILL MOURN OVER HIM.  Even so, Amen.  Revelation 1:7  NASB

All the tribes of the earth will mourn over Jesus’ appearance because those with the mark of the beast will realize the lies and deception of the beasts, false prophets, and Satan, and their poor spiritual condition will become apparent.

Those gathering at the sound of the trumpet will include both living and resurrected saints.

For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, and remain until the coming of the Lord, shall not precede those who have fallen asleep.  For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of archangel, and with the trumpet of God; and the dead in Christ shall rise first.  Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and thus we shall always be with the Lord.  1Thessalonians 4:15-17  NASB

The resurrection of saints at Jesus’ “second coming” will be the third of the four resurrections, i.e., the first resurrection of the two that bookend the millennium.  This resurrection event, according to the discussion in the last section, will include those who have attained the 60-fold level of production of spiritual fruit and who are identified in male terms as priests and/or husbands.

And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given to them.  And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of the testimony of Jesus and because of the word of God, and those who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received the mark upon their forehead and upon their hand; and they came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand yearsThe rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were completedThis is the first resurrectionBlessed and holy is the one who has a part in the first resurrection; over these the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with Him for a thousand years Revelation 20:4-6  NASB

The mark of the beast is upon the forehead which refers to one’s thoughts and upon the hand which refers to actions.  The second death (in the lake of fire) has no power over those resurrected at the end of spiritual day/age 6 because they have been redeemed and their spiritual attainment is the designated, 60-fold level of production of spiritual fruit.  Those resurrected will join the saints who are alive and remain (1Thes 4:16-17), and they all will be priests of God and His Christ and will reign with Him for a thousand years.

The seals, bowls, trumpets, and plagues in Revelation present more details of events of spiritual day/age 6, and God Almighty will reveal the exact meaning of these symbols to others in future generations.

This resurrection is the culminating event of spiritual day/age 6.

…  And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.  Genesis 1:31  NASB
